The North Haledon Police Department, under the command of Chief Robert Bracco and Captain Todd Darby, is comprised of seventeen sworn police officers, including the chief, captain, four sergeants, one detective sergeant and ten patrol officers, two of which are assigned to traffic enforcement and are also the liaisons to the schools through the D.A.R.E. program. Five Class II Special Police Officers supplement the patrol force, and there are seven civilian support staff, including a records clerk, two full-time dispatchers and three part-time dispatchers. All patrol officers and a majority of the civilian staff have received training as Emergency Medical Technicians. Along with the defibrillators carried in the police units, this training enables members of the Police Department to respond to medical emergencies and begin first aid and/or lifesaving efforts prior to the response of emergency medical personnel. Emphasizing the importance of education, fourteen officers have, or are pursuing, degrees in criminal justice. Two of these officers have already gone on to receive their Masters Degree in Public Administration and Human Resources. All officers receive ongoing training in law enforcement practices by attending in-service training at the police academies located in Passaic County and throughout the state. Please remember to report any suspicious activity and to call 9-1-1 to report an emergency or 973-423-1111 for any other police matter.
